Kind Words

Janna, gynaecoloog

Why me - as your birth photographer?

As an anesthesiologist, I understand the rhythm of the operating room. I know when to step back, when to stay invisible and when a single photograph can preserve a moment that would otherwise be gone forever.

FAQ
In which hospitals do you work?

I do my birth photography work in hospitals of the northern provinces of the Netherlands.

I have a contract with the Martini Hospital in Groningen and Wilhelmina Hospital Assen. Many hospitals agree to a birth photographer if you ask and organize on time.

Are you available for non-planned births?

I specialize in planned cesarean sections. Due to my job at the hospital as an anesthesiologist it's not possible to attend "natural/ not planned" births.

Are my photographs kept private?

Always.

Images are only shared with your explicit permission.

How long will you be in the hospital to photograph?

I will start 1 hour before the cesarean section operation and will stay until 3 hours after.

Extra time to welcome your other kids/ family members can be arranged.

How far in advance should I schedule my cesarean photoshoot?

Ideally, as far in advance as possible. I dedicate a great deal of time to each client to ensure a truly bespoke experience; for this reason, I accept only two clients per month.

Last-minute enquiries are always welcome if I am available.

Can my partner stay fully present?

Absolutely.

One of the greatest gifts of having a photographer is that neither of you has to think about taking pictures.

You can simply experience the moment together.
